wireless technology for better understanding of speech

look to Lexis™ for great-sounding,
easy-to-use ear-level FM

Hearing-impaired students need and deserve the best sound quality possible in ear-level FM products. That’s why Phonic Ear is proud to offer the new Lexis wireless communication system.  Designed with children’s language development in mind, it's uniquely suited to the educational environment. Lexis offers great sound quality and numerous ease-of-use features, all with the convenience of ear-level FM.

superb directionality

With Lexis, students can communicate better anywhere noise or distance limits intelligibility — in the cafeteria, in a group, or on the bus. In superfocus mode, the Lexis directional transmitter/mic provides 8.5 AI-DI, greatly enhancing understanding in noisy and reverberant conditions. With digital signal processing, much of this increased directionality is obtained in lower frequencies, benefiting those with high frequency hearing loss.

low circuit noise

In developing the Lexis system, we strove to achieve a lower equivalent input noise. Our success is clearly noticeable with an impressive total system signal-to-noise ratio of +50dB.

convenience with security

The Lexis receiver has all the plug and play convenience you expect of an ear-level FM system. A hearing care professional can easily connect the receiver to most BTE hearing instruments via an audio shoe. With simple yet secure connections to Oticon’s powerful Sumo hearing aids, you can rest easy knowing you're using the most durable FM interface available.

gain control: there when you need it

To make sure you can fit Lexis to more hearing aids according to the ASHA protocol, the receiver features an independent microphone sensitivity control. Adjustable within ±7dB, this control gives you power when you need it to ensure the most comfortable fit for your students.

finally, a practical battery solution

If you’ve worried about damaging your FM equipment by accidentally recharging alkaline batteries, you’ll be pleased to know that Lexis offers a sensible solution. Use whatever standard AAA batteries you like — cost-effective NiMH rechargeables or alkaline as an emergency backup. Our transmitter gives you the convenience of recharging in the unit with no worry about accidentally recharging alkaline batteries — our unique fail-safe system ensures that only the right kinds of batteries will charge.

more efficient

We designed the Lexis receiver with efficiency in mind, too. There’s lower current use overall, and no power drainage in the off position. That means fewer battery replacements, less wear and tear, and greater convenience, since the receiver can stay attached, ready for use at any time.

great warranty

Phonic Ear has also put thought into the Lexis warranty. Your initial purchase features 12-month all-inclusive coverage, including free one-time loss or damage replacement of the receiver and/or transmitter. Extended warranties for years 2 through 5 are also available for $75/per year. These feature an all-inclusive maintenance, and one-time loss or damage replacement with a $100 processing fee.

173, 183, and 216MHz compatibility

The Lexis system will be available in 173, 183, and 216MHz bands for use in numerous countries around the world. That means it can work with other popular products you may already own.

216MHz systems are now in production and other bands will follow.

today's tip

Q: I’m using Tracker and I’ve listed staff members, but only some are showing up on the list on the Student form. I’ve checked to make sure they are all marked as active. What’s wrong?
A: It’s likely that the missing Staff members aren’t associated with a particular school or school district. There are two places in the Students form where Staff members appear on drop-down lists. One is the General Information tab and the other is the Audiological Program Information tab. Both of these include information on not only the Staff member’s name, but also where they’re located — this helps you keep track of where the student and the equipment they’re wearing are located.
Every staff member you enter should appear on the drop down list for General Teacher on the General Information tab of the Students form. On the Audiological Program Information tab, however, only those educational audiologists associated with the school or district the child is in will appear on the drop down list (it’s meant to help filter out irrelevant Staff members and make selection easier). How does the system know where the student is? From the school their general teacher is in. Try associating the child’s general teacher with a school, and associate the child’s audiologist with the same school or district, and all should be well.
